As with all other popular holiday destinations, you will also find the usual “Chicken Nuggets Restaurants”, serving everything from the fryer! LOCAL FOOD IN THE MOUNTAINS AT EL CALDERITO
One of the island’s best restaurants is located on the north coast of Tenerife. With breathtaking views down the mountain and out to the open sea, El Calderito serves tasty and authentic local cuisine. The restaurant is so popular that guests like to come from far away, and table reservations are therefore an absolute necessity. When you visit the restaurant, also take a moment to notice the surroundings: the restaurant has its own small kitchen gardens, which are located on the terraces below.
It may be hard to choose, but the waiters are, despite the fact that not all staff speak English, good at helping and suggesting what you will have to taste. Do try the crispy croquetas, the mushroom pâté and a calderito, a small pot with goat stew.
DELICIOUS TAPAS AT EL TALLER
The small tapas bar doesn’t make much of itself and you may overlook El Taller as you walk by. But finally keep looking until you find it: here you get the best tapas! Try a plate with five different montaditos, small slices of bread with delicious filling. We had tuna, black sausage, sun-dried tomatoes, almogrote (goat cheese mixed with red pepper and garlic) and Albarino sausage with quail eggs. Bon appetite!
MEDITERRANEAN CLASSICS WITH LOCAL TOUCHES AT LE PETIT BISTRO
At Le Petit Bistro you get really good food! In the small bistro, which is more of a nice and cozy restaurant, it is very difficult to choose between the many delicious dishes. It is recommended to order a bit of it all and then divide the dishes between you. In addition to the delicacies pictured, you must also try the tuna steak. Remember to book a table!
THE BEST CHURROS ON TENERIFE!
If you have a sweet tooth, then Churreria Marcos can be recommended. Here you get freshly made churros. Order a cup of chocolate for dipping, or eat them as they are with a little sugar. The locals use the place as a breakfast restaurant and in the siesta it is closed. Therefore, remember to check opening hours before going.
